Discover the diverse birdlife of Pico Island, from the seaside \u201cfaj\u00e3 l\u00e1vica\u201d of Lajes do Pico<\/strong> to the mountain habitats of the Caveiro Natural Reserve<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Departure:<\/strong> 08:30 from the Espa\u00e7o Talassa base<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Begin birding along the Lajes lava platform (Geopark)<\/strong>, home to many Common Terns<\/strong>, the rare Roseate Tern<\/strong>, Plovers<\/strong>, and larger species such as the Grey Heron<\/strong> and the elegant Little Egret<\/strong>. On lucky days, you might even spot the elusive Gray Heron<\/strong> or small Sandpipers<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Continue to the Caveiro Natural Reserve<\/strong>, where volcanic lakes and Laurisilva forest<\/strong> create rich habitats for several Azorean subspecies<\/strong>, including the Atlantic Canary<\/strong>, Chaffinch<\/strong>, and tiny Goldcrest<\/strong>. American migratory species like the American Wigeon<\/strong> and Ring-necked Duck<\/strong> can also often be seen.<\/p>\n
