Due to the special nature of our activities, each customer declares to be over five years old, not pregnant, and in perfect physical and mental health. Espaço Talassa reserves the right to refuse boarding to any client who does not meet these conditions. Clients will not receive any refund or compensation if these requirements are not met.

General Information

• 8-day / 7-night package combining hiking, whale and dolphin observation, and cultural discovery of Pico Island.
• 7 nights accommodation with breakfast in a 2** hotel.
• Two 3-hour sea excursions based on “Whales and Dolphins of Queimada.”
• Three guided hikes through varied landscapes unique to Pico.
• Five evening talks on themes such as Pico’s geology, volcanoes, marine mammals, turtles, and photo identification.
• Road Book with detailed hike and activity descriptions, sent by email (PDF) or post.
• All transfers as described in “Day by Day.”
• Insurance included.
• Free entrance to the Whaler’s Museum.
• Government taxes and whale & dolphin observation permit included.
• Prices are per person based on double room occupancy in a 2** hotel.
• Single passenger supplement: 230 €.
• Single room supplement: 119 €.
• Triple room reduction: 88 € for the third person sharing.
• Sea-view room supplement: 28 € per person (subject to availability).

What’s the plan?

Day 1 – Saturday

• Arrival transfer from Faial or Pico airport.
• Welcome drink and briefing on planned activities.

Day 2 – Sunday

• Morning whale watching excursion.
• Afternoon visit to the Whaler’s Museum in Lajes do Pico.

Day 3 – Monday

• Hike on the eastern tip of Pico and visit to François the potter.

Day 4 – Tuesday

• Visit to Gruta das Torres lava tube, hike through UNESCO-listed vineyards, and tour of the Wine Museum.

Day 5 – Wednesday

• Morning sea excursion; afternoon stroll to the Vigia da Queimada lookout.

Day 6 – Thursday

• Hike through the Laurisilva (primitive forest) and visit the old whale factory in São Roque.

Day 7 – Friday

• Free day for optional activities:
  – Sea Watch excursion to São Jorge Island.
  – Ascent of Mount Pico (full-day, physically demanding hike).
  – Relaxation day or make up for weather-cancelled activities.

Day 8 – Saturday

• Departure transfer to Faial or Pico airport.

The itinerary may be modified depending on weather conditions, safety, the number of participants, or the presence of whales.

• Insurance (general assistance, illness, accident, rescue operations).
• Free access to the Espaço Talassa library and BOCA services.
• Entrance to the Whaler’s Museum.
• Government taxes and observation permits included.
• Optional climb of Mount Pico available upon request.
