Whales watching week package
Attention
Due to the special nature of our activities, each customer declares to be over five years old, not pregnant, and in perfect physical and mental health. Espaço Talassa reserves the right to refuse boarding to any client who does not meet these conditions. Clients will not receive any refund or compensation if these requirements are not met.
General Information
- 8 days / 7 nights package based in Lajes do Pico, the heart of Azorean whale watching.
- Welcome and transfer from Faial or Pico airport to hotel in Lajes do Pico.
- 7 nights accommodation with breakfast in a 2** hotel.
- 5 sea excursions for whale and dolphin observation (boat, fuel, harbour costs, and equipment included).
- Excursions depend on weather and sea conditions.
- From March to November.
- Prices based on double room occupancy.
- Single supplement: 119 €.
- Triple room (double + extra bed): 88 € discount for the third person sharing.
- Sea-view room: 28 € per person (subject to availability at booking).
- Extra charge for arrivals or departures from Horta: 30 € per person.
What’s the plan?
Day 1 – Arrival
- Meet and greet at Faial or Pico airport.
- Transfer to Lajes do Pico and check-in at the hotel Whale’come ao Pico, our base of operations.
Days 2 to 7 – Lajes do Pico
- Departure around 10am for your whale and dolphin encounters.
- Listen, observe, and capture unforgettable moments with the animals.
- Return to Lajes around 1pm. Afternoons are free for you to explore or relax.
- Visit the Whaler’s Museum, featuring scrimshaw art and one of the most complete libraries on whaling culture.
- Visit the Vigia da Queimada lookout and the BOCA (Base of Observation of Cetaceans of the Azores) for books, audiovisual materials and marine documentation.
- Mountain bikes and kayaks available for short trips to “Maré” or “Castelete”.
- Explore Calheta de Nesquim, the port of the first Azorean whaling boat, or visit the old whaling factory in São Roque.
- Optional guided tours available upon request.
Day 8 – Departure
- Transfer from Lajes do Pico to the airport according to your flight schedule.
- Itinerary subject to change depending on weather, sea conditions, and whale presence.

- Free access to the BOCA services: mountain bikes, kayaks, library, and audiovisual materials.
- Entrance to the Whaler’s Museum included.
- Insurance (general assistance, illness, accident, and rescue operations).
- Government taxes and cetacean observation permit included.
