Whitewashed building with green trim in a Pico harbor town, surrounded by lush green hills and coastal landscape

Slow food in the heart of Lajes do Pico. A bistrot by Espaço Talassa, open from 11:00 to midnight. Bread from a local bakery. Cheese from a producer we know by name, when she has it. Fish as fresh as the day allows, from fishermen on the island. Nothing is rushed here. Everything is made to order.

After whale watching, lunch is a good idea

Our morning trips return around 12:30 — which is exactly when the bistrot opens for lunch. Many guests make it part of the same morning: the boat at 9:00, lunch at 13:00, coffee on the terrace by 14:30.

We cook slowly, on purpose. If you’re pressed for time, our dish of the day is always the fastest option.

What local means to us

We buy from Pico first. From the Azores second. From the mainland only when the islands can’t provide — and we’ll tell you when. We don’t pretend to grow what we serve. We just choose carefully, and cook it properly.

Please don’t waste food. The whales and dolphins thank you.
